I feel like I was supposed to love this book, The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, but I did not. I would give it a 3/5 stars. This dystopian novel will, however, leave you with a lot to think about. It is terrifying because it feels that it's the direction the current administration of the U.S. government is leading us in. Ladies beware.
What I Loved
The idea and concept of the book.
The terrifying path that looks like it could be our reality in the near future.
The ways in which made me think.
How the book ended.
What I Did Not Love
The flow/rhythm of the book.
It left much to be desired.
I read the graphic novel before the novel, and that was better in my opninion. It was succinct, and got everything across in a much shorter, concise, and effective way. The graphic novel also left me wanting more, hence I read the novel, but the novel really didn’t add much more. While it wasn’t the best book I’ve read it could be amazing to you, and that’s the beauty of books. I would recommend the graphic novel before the novel, but I will leave links to both.
